What operating systems are supported ?
AND Communicator supports Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X and Linux. Linux is only available on request by partners due to the numerous distributions available.

What is the difference between the operating systems?
AND Communicator offers the same user experience on all supported platforms. Installation and setup is adapted to the requirements of the operating systems but from the user perspective there is no difference.

Features



Which operational modes are available?
AND Communicator can be used both in Hardphone and Softphone mode. Hardphone mode enables you to control an IP phone directly from the desktop while Softphone mode allows to use AND Communicator as phone by itself.

How many connections can be active?
AND Communicator allows you to have multiple connections active at the same time. It is even possible to work in softphone and hardphone mode at the same time.

Supported Protocols



What kind of SIP is supported?
Line-side SIP is supported.

Is there support for Skinny (SCCP) ?
No, there is no native support for Skinny due to the proprietary nature of SCCP. Integration of proprietary protocols can be achieved by using the flexible architecture of AND Communicator by enhancing the functionality with external libraries.

What codecs are supported ?
Native codec support in AND Communicator are G.711 a-law and mu-law and Speex. Speex is only used for low-bandwidth communication between AND Communicator endpoints. Support for G.729 can be optionally added if G.729 licenses are installed.

Installation and Maintenance



How is installation handled?
AND Communicator can be installed directly on the desktop computer or be distributed to end devices by common software distribution tools.

How is the software licensed?
For corporate usage there is centralized licensing available to simplify licensing and have centralized control of all AND Communicator clients.

How to control the clients?
In corporate environments it is possible to control the services available at the client side directly from the AND Phone Application Server. This enables you to have centralized control of your deployment.
